Tips to Writing Great Romance Novels

Writing a book can take weeks, months, or even years. There truly is no time limit when it comes to perfecting a story that an author develops. However, this is only the beginning of the process Before Romance Novels or any type of book can be published, the author has to first know that the story at hand is well-written, edited properly, and is something that will catch the attention of readers. But before an author can publish a book, he/she must be able to write a book that is powerful, catchy, romantic, and one that truly captivates the reader’s attention.

If you’re a new author or just one who is slowly beginning to write Romance Books, you may have writer’s block or maybe you just want helpful tips that will allow you to create a piece of literature that is sure to be worthwhile. Below are some tips for you to consider no matter what type of book you’re writing. From romance novels to mysteries, fantasy and Erotic eBooks, all of them require the author to use basic writing tips and tricks.

Create and fully develop a setting – Setting is especially important in romance novels. Don’t have the book take place in one boring dull setting. Try to incorporate the setting of your story into one that plays into the love line within the book.

Make characters relatable and dynamic – Character development is important. Characters should be whole and they should be dynamic. It never hurts to have a static character here and there, readers often like those characters that develop and are relatable.

Find ways to captivate the reader – No one wants to read a boring book. Romance and erotic books should be relatable. The reader shouldn’t want to put your book down until the last page is read. Do this by using suspense, relatable characters, and a plot that grows and grows. Your plot should be a mountain or a rollercoaster, not a flat road.

Focus on conflict – Readers like conflict and we all know love is one big conflict in itself! Be sure to focus on adding conflict whenever possible but don’t overdo it. You want your readers to see and feel the conflict but don’t make it so obvious that the reader knows what is coming next.

Always tie up loose ends – Have you ever watched a movie or read a novel and still had plenty of unanswered questions? This is what most readers don’t want. It’s important to tie up any loose ends that your story may have unless you’re planning to write a series of novels that will allow all ends to be tied in other editions.

Writing a book definitely takes a lot of time and effort, but following simple writing tips can be extremely helpful. Before any romance novel can be published it has to be proofread, edited, and in some spots, rewritten. A book should flow and no publisher will want to publish a book that won’t do well on the reader’s market.

The Evolution of the Romance Novel

Reading a novel is one of the best ways to entertain yourself and to keep your imagination active. One of the most entertaining genres is the romance novel. Romance Novels are books that tell the story of lovers and their struggles and triumphs. The story lines of these books contain shocking conflicts, dramatic events and tremendous highs and lows.

Now I’d like to talk in detail about the different types of Erotic Books. There are two major categories: single title romance and the category romance. Recently, new subgenres of romance novels have been created according to current trends and interests.

Science fiction based romance novels have been gaining popularity.

Romance novel publishers say that there has been a rapid growth in demand for these types of books. Science fiction romance novels often tell the story of a loving couple in a futuristic setting. Fantasy romance is another subgenre that is trendy right now. These novels are based on old and modern fantasies. The depth of the story typically depends on the extent of the author’s imagination and creativity. Research shows that readership of these kinds of erotic books is steadily increasing.

If you are new to the world of Romance Books you should first figure out what kind of book you are looking for. If you love romantic adventures then you should look at the genre of fictitious erotic books.

This kind of novel will not only entertain you but also will broaden your imagination. Before you select a romance novel you should always read the critic’s comments section. By reading the comments you will be able to evaluate the quality of the book and decide if it truly interests you.

Another genre of erotic books is the inspirational romance. In these books the author usually tries to convey inspiring thoughts to the readers. Though these novels don’t have a huge following there are still many people who love them. After all, it totally depends on the reader’s personal taste and interests. Publishers print novels based on the demand for a particular type of erotic book. Choosing a romance novel from the many subgenres is totally up to the individual and is part of the fun of reading these books.

The clinical findings, if the bandage can provide minor current through the wound surface, healing would be significantly more rapidly, even those wound of other treatment modalities exist resistance. The bandages surface is covered with tiny battery, in dry conditions, the battery will discharge, but when the bandages from wetting current circuit is activated, the surface of the wound can be produced in weak current.

How Do You Define a Romance Novel?

Many people see the line “and they lived happily ever after” as the definitive characteristic of romance novels. While this is true for some stories, it is considered to be just one element in romantic stories. Still the debate continues, and many experts on romance fiction still define romance novels to have two specific elements.

Romance Books combine a vast pool of character types, time eras, and plots, but one element makes all of these stories fall under one umbrella. Romance Novels focus on the romantic relationship of two characters within the story. The central love story in the romance novel is highly important because this is where the subplots will branch from.

Therefore, romance novels should feature two characters who share a relationship that is based on love.

The romance novel industry has matured and developed in the last decade by not limiting characters who are involved in a romantic relationship to be just male and female. Now, there are published romance books about same gender, and different cultures in romantic relationships. This just proves that the framework and structure with which a story is built upon does not always define a genre; it is up to the author to put his creativity to use to release a moving story.

The next element that makes up a romance novel is an emotionally satisfying ending for the reader. This may sound very ambiguous for some, as it this could mean both positive and negative endings for a story.

For many years, many experts in literature have wondered if the romance books, even Erotic Books, fall under the category romance novel, if they only have the “happily ever after” ending. However, some romance stories enthusiasts would say that romance novels can have a positive or a negative ending, as the “happily ever after” is just a conventional ending that many are used to. Just like in other genres, the endings can vary, but the ending must bring emotional satisfaction to the reader when the story is complete.

Of course, experts in fiction, specifically romantic fiction, argue that the happy ending is a critical component in romance novels. Publishers often are attracted to stories that have happy endings as these are the ones that are proven to be most sellable to the public. Here we can see that the formulaic ending of the “and they lived happily ever after” still proves to be a powerful aspect of romance stories, but one must note that there are now romance books being produced that do not always feature this “happily ever after” aspect.

Pointers To Writing A Good Suspense Novel

Nobody can become a good suspense writer overnight. You need to go through a series of trial and error method, to achieve the master piece you desired from long. It needs a great deal of understanding and research. A thorough understanding of the subject as well as the intricacies of the story, are required in spinning up a plot.

Writing a suspense novel is not a child’s play. There are a lot of ingredients which you need to bring together to cook up a great suspense story. These are the elements of fear, mystery, crime, unpredictable twists, secluded settings, a victim and a villain. Here are a few tips you can work upon to write your own suspect novel.

Guidelines:

Playing rapid fire with your mind is a great idea. Question yourself randomly about the plot, the setting, the characters, and the mystery to be solved. You need to ask yourself, why, how, when and where according to the story of the novel.
Characterization is the next most important thing for you to do. Give life to your characters. Differentiate between the good and the bad. Make sure that readers can judge for themselves who is good and who is evil.
Pay attention to the suspence in the plot. Give a valid reason for the suspence. It may be a murder, a robbery, a supernatural twist, etc. whatever it is make sure it is convincing to the readers.
Put yourself in the shoes of your character and think how would you react if you were in their place, this way you can get an exact portrayal of the human reactions in different situations.
Bring in various unpredictable twists and turns in your plot. This will throw the readers off-guard. They will be dying to know what happens at the end.
The most important point in writing a suspence story is the climax. Letting the cat out of the bag at the perfect time is the catch.

Once you have achieved perfection in following these tips, you can be rest assured that your novel will sell like hot cakes. For details refer book guide.

Romance novels first appeared as literature produced during medieval times that was published in vernacular languages such as German, English, French, and Spanish. The history of romance novels is pretty straight forward, as it went through three main phases before it reached the place that it is today.

If you are a Romance Books author, it’s important to have a good understanding of the genre, and the many changes it has experienced over time. It not only makes you more knowledgeable, but also gives you more ideas and thoughts when you sit down to write.

Adventure, Myth, and Fantasy

What we now know is that the romance novel started off as a genre encompassed by themes of adventure, chivalry, myth, and fantasy.

When the genre first began, many of the stories were written about themes that tied back to Alexander the Great, Charlemagne, King Arthur, and other male figures that were held high in society. All of these men were deemed to be heroes, and male characters in romance books were portrayed to be just that.

Men in these stories were chivalrous and unworried about any danger that they may face during their journeys. These books were all about adventure and completing the impossible. Chivalry and patriarchal ways of life were common themes in the first romance novels.

The Romantics

As decades passed, the form and focus of Romance Novels changed. Books were often now written from a firsthand point of view, usually a viewpoint from the hero or heroine that is depicted. The stories told often reflected love, courtship, and conflicts that always ended happily. Oftentimes, these stories were about lost and rekindled love, and the struggles that women went through to balance their lives between emotion and societal demands.

Many times poor women were depicted to readers as somebody whom they could sympathize with their social status, as well as their journey to find and hold onto love.

Victorian Age

In their last stage, romance novels about love and passion remained constant themes, but the idea of moral codes, especially those pertaining to marriage, were widely written about. Oftentimes, women were torn between love and the morals that come with marriage. In these novels, women were faced with breaking moral code, such as bigamy, to be with their true love. Novels during this time also focused heavily on quests for freedom, especially from the female point-of-view.

Consider books such as Jane Eyre and Wuthering Heights are perfect examples of the romance novel in its final phase. The genre moved away from chivalry and myth, and took a turn towards revolving around love, passion, and the true meaning and pursuit of both.

The romance and Erotic Books we need nowadays most often reflect the second and third parts of the evolution of the romance novel. When we think of the romance novel we think about passion, love, lust, breaking morals to be with “the one,” the struggles of love, and such.

Erotic E-Books Vs Romance Novels

Generally, erotic ebooks and romance novels are considered to be a part of the same genre. However, there are some differences between them. Once you log onto the Internet and start browsing, you will find separate sections between romance books online and erotic e-books. This is because there is a huge difference between them.

Erotic stories are stories which often contain some adult content in them. This means that these stories are not written for the people who are below 18 years of age. People who are mature adults can read these books in order to enhance their knowledge regarding sex and romance. However, many people read these stories just for fun and entertainment, and they seek only sex in these kinds of books. Today, Erotic eBooks are available easily on the Internet, and can be downloaded from various sites which have both paid and free sections within them. These sites have their own strategy of promoting their free online books. They will often provide a free section for the users so that they can preview the stories. In comparison, a paid section is the area which can only be accessed by signing up as a paid member of the site in question. On the sites it is often shown that paid section has even better flavors and varieties of these erotic e-books. Behind the scenes, the free section gives a kick-start to the emotions of the readers, and psychologically it compels them to purchase paid services from the site.

On the other hand, there are various sites which provide Romance Books Online. These romance books may be the inspiration from some true incidents, and sometimes they may also be fictitious. Whatever the case may be, Romance Novels are considered far more “decent” as compared to erotic ebooks. Also, because romance novels are expected to be decent and clean and without any adult contents, these novels can be read by adults and kids alike. These novels do not have any adult ratings, and so parents (generally) don’t mind their kids reading these novels. In fact, some of the romantic stories are even used as course material at some schools and colleges. For example, Romeo and Juliet is a romance novel, but it is not considered to be an erotic book. The reasoning behind this is that it does not contain any adult content, nor does it contain any text that would be considered to be explicit. On the contrary it is simply a love story.

Scariest Horror Novels and Short Stories

Stephen King – One For The Road

One For The Road is just a short story, but it is so scary that we can’t possibly leave it out of this list. A couple of men meet in a bar and discuss the legend of the vampires in and around the nearby village of Salem’s Lot. One For The Road is without any doubt Stephen King’s scariest story and can be found in the collection Night Shift.

Vanessa Morgan – Drowned Sorrow

Drowned Sorrow by Vanessa Morgan is the scariest novel of the year. Drowned Sorrow has an extremely creepy atmosphere, an strange village where the inhabitants drink nothing but water, a mysterious sect, and a lake with half-dead people in it. A mother and her teenage daughter visit the village and it is unsure if they will ever be able to get out again. It’s no wonder that this new horror author has been called the female version of Stephen King.

James Herbert – The Haunting

The Haunting is similar to the movie The Others with Nicole Kidman.

Scientist David Ash is assigned to research the creepy occurrences in an old castle. The inhabitants of the castle are kind, but they possess a dark secret that David will scare the hell out of him.

John Saul – Second Child

The most popular boy in school invites the ugly Darcy to the prom and then makes a fool out of her. Darcy kills herself, but years later, her spirit is still wandering through the village.

Kittens – Dean Koontz

Another short story by yet another master of horror: Dean Koontz. Kittens, which is part of the collection Strange Highways, is Dean Koontz’s darkest and scariest story. Other creepy stories in Strange Highways are The Black Pumpkin, Trapped and Twilight of the Dawn.
